October Fun

How do you summarize a month in the life of a busy family? After looking over recent pictures I realized that it is amazing to see all we have done during the month--can't even include everything (in particular all the kids sports activities!) but here's a quickie overview of the October miscellaneous stuff...
Soundview ward youth temple trip
I have no idea why we took this picture outside of Target when we were on a weekend trip to Newberg Oregon for Christian's Water polo tournament....but it looks like we were having fun!
Curtis High School Daffodil Princess Selection night
Christian is the escort for Sara Davis and she was selected as the Curtis 2010 Daffodil Princess! There will be more fun events later this year. Sara has the bulk of the busy-ness and all of the pressure and Christian kinda just goes along for the ride-lucky guy!

PUMPKIN PATCH field trip with Prestons Kindergarten class. He has such fun with his buddies Jacob and Carson.

NEON day for Curtis Junior High Spirit week...Katie with friends Madison and Sarah.
We took a quick weekend to Utah to see Emily in the BYU opera Tales of Hoffman...wonderful music and wonderfully fun times with our college girls!
Grandma and Grandpa Bateman drove all the way from Arizona to see the production. Grandma Betteridge was also in Utah to attend as well as sweet cousins Adam and Crystal.
Hannah and her activity day girls and her wonderful leaders, Jennifer Farnes and Barbara Brown. They have such fun together and at this special recognition night they each performed or shared something they have learned. Hannah played Star light Star bright on the piano and sang sweetly while she played.

Do the Puyallup!

In September we spent an afternoon and evening at the Puyallup Fair. We enjoyed this Western Washington Fall ritual with the Garlock girls and the afternoon was a success. We started with some rides, won a couple stuffed animals, ate a yummy fair dinner, a couple more rides(Kelsey and Katie did the Catapult bungee together!), petting zoo, watched some baby pigs be born, saw the huge dairy cows, ate some yummy ice cream at the diary barn, walked through the Hobby Hall, saw the award winning dessert made by Grandpa Gaylen Masters and other award winning quilts and wedding dresses, bought 26 scones to eat/take home and basically walked our little legs off for about 5 hours.
High light for me was riding on the Zipper!!! Hannah needed a partner and I was the only one who could make her dream come true. I basically screamed the whole time and Hannah was constantly calming me down. When I got off I felt like I had just been on 5 rides in one--definitely worth the 30 minutes standing in line.

Curtis Homecoming 2009

We had a great time at the Curtis Homecoming Assembly last night!
Christian was very involved in the planning of this event with his Leadership class and spent a lot of time over the past month preparing. This is a huge community event with hundreds of parents and alumni attending each year. We had our first ever outdoor assembly in the stadium since the gym is being remodeled.
Christian and Ben were nominated to the homecoming court!

Christian's partner was Sarah Davis...they looked so cute together!

Prince and Princess---Sarah and Christian

Ben and Christian with Homecoming Queen Jordan Del Toro
Just for the record, below is a copy of Christian's bio from Homecoming night!

Christian is a member of the Swim and water polo teams, and is a proud bass in the Valhalla Vox and A Cappella choirs. On stage he participated in the musicals and One Acts. He is a member of the RAKE club, has served as a 6th grade camp counselor for NVI students, and is currently serving as the ASB Treasurer. Outside of school, he is a Boy Scout, attends early morning seminary, and is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among many things, he enjoys cycling, camping trips, and spending time with his family and friends.

To his family and friends:

Thank you all for making me who I am today! Thanks especially to the guys in the pool and the guys in choir. You are awesome! To my family; Mom and dad, you two make one cute couple! I love you both soo much and couldn’t have asked for better parents! Bethany, Emily, Katie, Hannah, and Preston! I love you! To Ben, my cousin, my brother, words can’t describe how much I cherish the memories we’ve made together... Kings to you!

Advice to the underclassmen: Be nice, Work Hard! And join choir!
